VW T6 Digital Dash Upgrade: What You Get, Cost and Fitting

A VW T6 digital dash upgrade swaps your analogue clocks for a 1920x720 HD screen, while keeping your original mileage, service data and warnings. Our T6 DigiDash fits 2015 to 2020 Transporter, Caravelle, Combi and California vans, and starts from £482.39 supply only at the time of writing.

This guide covers what you see on the screen, what stays exactly as it was, what it costs, and the three ways to get it fitted.

Which T6 vans it fits

The VW T6 digital dashboard kit is made for 2015 to 2020 vans: Transporter, Caravelle, Combi and California. Later vans from 2020 to 2025 take the separate T6.1 DigiDash.

If your van is a 2020, it sits on the boundary between T6 and T6.1. A 2015 van is also a boundary year, as our T5 and T5.1 listings include 2015. Check your V5C year or send us a photo of your current clocks, and we'll confirm which you need. Our T6 vs T6.1 DigiDash comparison and model and year guide go into more detail.

What you get with a T6 digital dash

The DigiDash is a full replacement instrument cluster with an HD IPS screen. It runs on Linux and boots in under 2 seconds.

  • Layouts. Choose from Classic, Sport, Sport Rainbow, Sport Race, Digital and Gear & speed, with different colour schemes.
  • Vehicle data. The product page lists speed, RPM, fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, tyre pressure, current consumption, remaining distance, AdBlue level and service intervals.
  • Extras on screen. A live mpg graph, and digital or analogue clock options.
  • Maps and media. With a compatible head unit or our Android AI Box, sat nav and media show in the centre between the dials.
  • More settings. The interface opens up settings and menus that were previously hidden.
  • Languages. English plus many others, including German, French, Spanish and Italian.

A quick safety note from the product page: never adjust the screen mirror or watch video content while you're driving.

What stays the same

The DigiDash uses your van's original cluster circuit board, stripped of its dials and moved across into the new unit.

Because of that, your mileage, service intervals and vehicle notifications are kept, and the van stays immobiliser-validated through the BCM. No coding is needed, nothing is cut, and you can put the original cluster back if you ever want to.

The speedometer and warning lights still come from that original board. As with any modification, tell your insurer about it.

What a VW T6 digital dash upgrade costs

At the time of writing, the T6 DigiDash is £482.39 supply only, or £758.39 supplied and fitted. Prices include VAT, and the product page always shows the current price.

A few things can change your total:

  • Fitting at your address. Travel is charged at £1 per mile, one way. Call or WhatsApp us with your postcode and we'll tell you the mileage.
  • No steering wheel buttons? Add the DigiDash remote controller. Our advanced firmware also supports right-hand stalk menu controls.
  • Keeping your factory screen? If it has wired CarPlay or Android Auto, the Android AI Box can mirror it to the DigiDash.
  • Firmware on a USB. Updating is optional. If you can't get your own stick to work, there's a pre-loaded firmware USB.

Every unit has our 2-year guarantee, and UK delivery is free on orders over £20. Orders are dispatched within 24 hours with tracking.

How it's fitted

You've got three options: bring the van to our workshop in St Neots or Welford, have Antony come to your address on the UK mainland, or fit it yourself with our guide and videos. The fitting and installation page has the full details.

Fitted by Antony

Antony has fitted hundreds of upgrades in Transporters, Crafters and Caddys. Choose Supply & Fitting on the product page, or call or WhatsApp us. Fittings are usually booked in within about a week.

  1. We confirm your van, its year and your current setup, so the right kit goes in.
  2. You pick a date and a place: St Neots, Welford or your address.
  3. Antony fits the DigiDash, calibrates it and sets it up for your van, with a VCDS scan before and after.
  4. We test it with you before you drive away.
  5. After that, call or WhatsApp us for settings or firmware help.

Fitting it yourself

The box includes trim tools and Torx drivers, the wiring harness, zip ties and links to our fitting and settings videos. Here's the outline:

  1. Watch our video on removing the cluster (T6 example).
  2. Take out the original cluster with the supplied tools.
  3. Move the original circuit board across into the DigiDash, as shown in our videos.
  4. Plug everything in with the supplied harness. There's no cutting and no coding.
  5. Choose your layout and settings.

If the van won't start after you plug in, check every plug is fully seated and the harness isn't damaged. Don't force the plugs or cut anything. Our immobiliser check video helps, and you can send us photos. Not sure which route suits you? Read DigiDash DIY vs fitted.

Pairing it with a head unit

The DigiDash gets even more useful alongside a head unit that talks to it. The DUDU7 Android head unit has wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and syncs maps and media to the DigiDash. Antony runs a 15.8 in DUDU7 and a DigiDash in his own T6.

FAQs

Is a T6 digital dash upgrade legal?

We can't give legal advice. What we can say is that the speedometer and warning lights still come from your original board. Tell your insurer about any modification.

Will it keep my mileage and service reminders?

Yes. The original circuit board moves into the DigiDash, so mileage, service intervals and notifications carry over.

Why does it bong above a certain speed?

Usually a speed alert or winter tyre alert has been switched on by accident through the steering wheel buttons. On a T6 you can turn it off with the button sequence on our FAQ page or this speed alert fix video. Our speed alert guide has more.

How soon can you fit it?

Depending on availability, we usually book fittings in within about a week of your order.

Do I need to update the firmware?

No. Updating is optional. If everything works well, you can keep the version you have.
